Works Great with earbuds that do not have a microphone!

The first time I tried this app, it didnt seem to work. I was adjusting the volume and the mirophone gain to its maximum levels, but I could not hear sounds from far away. Sounds from nearby were amplified, though. I read through the instructions, the description, and then realized that the developers of the app were assuming that the phones microphone was the one that would be picking up the sound. I switched to another pair of earbuds that I use with my ipod and it worked!

So a message to the developers of the app. Please let people know that they have to use a headset/earbuds that do not have a microphone built in. Since everyone with an iPhone may be using accessories that come with a built-in mic, like the earbuds that come with the phone, this can cause confusion.

Otherwise, I can hear conversations across the room, in other offices, and was able to pick up sounds from a busy starbucks. Totally awesome app.
